We are bummed to share that Farmer Jesse will be transitioning on to a new opportunity and will no longer be our Farm Manager, but we are thankful for the two years he spent supporting our community through the Food Bank Farm. Our staff and volunteers will be stepping in for the interim to continue making sure the farm remains in operation, but we plan to hire a new Farm Manager as soon as possible.
This now creates an amazing opportunity for a new farmer to take over the operations and continue growing healthy food for the Food Bank and our community. We are four years in to creating what has become a very special volunteer-supported community farm, and we're excited about the future.
We also have big plans and dreams for the Food Bank Farm. We're just about finished building an on-site farm stand which will be opening in 2025. Kids continue to love our annual summer Farm Camp, and we have one more camp this summer. And we have our annual farm to fork dinner planned for October 5th. In 2023, we harvested nearly 15,000 pounds of fresh vegetables, most of which we're distributed through our Food Bank next door.
If the idea of joining our amazing team as our new Farm Manager, we'd love to chat! The Farm is a program of the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Community Foundation and has so much great support and momentum from our staff, donors, community members, and volunteers. Whoever becomes our next Farm Manager will be joining something unique and special.
