Composting

Turn Scraps into
Garden Gold! 🌱

Composting is a super fun way to recycle kitchen scraps and turn them into rich soil that helps plants grow. Plus, it’s an awesome way to reduce waste and learn about nature!

How to Start Your Own Compost:

01.

Pick a Spot

Find a shady spot in your yard to start your compost pile or bin. Make sure it’s easy to access so you can add scraps regularly.

02.

Add Materials

Breaking down your materials into small pieces makes a world of difference.

Green Materials: These are things like fruit and veggie scraps, coffee grounds, and grass clippings.

Brown Materials: Add things like dry leaves, cardboard, and paper. These help balance the compost and keep it from getting too smelly.

No-No’s: Avoid adding meat, dairy, and oily foods—they can attract pests and make the compost stink.

03.

Mix It Up

Use a shovel to turn your compost pile every week or so. This helps everything break down faster and keeps the pile from getting too wet or dry.

04.

Wait & Watch

Over time, the materials will break down into dark, crumbly soil. This is your compost, and it’s full of nutrients that plants love!

05.

Use Your Compost

Spread your finished compost in your garden or mix it into potting soil to give your plants a healthy boost.
